The Orchard development will breathe new life into waste land on Lockwood Street, providing en-suite rooms and communal living space for up to 30 formerly homeless people, live-in staff accommodation and a social enterprise building with workshops, recycling and retail space so that residents can work in the community’s re-use, refurbish and recycle businesses.”

Patrick Doyle, Chair – Emmaus Hull

As well as the community home, The Orchard has a warehouse-style shop (opening soon), an internet café (opening soon), refurbishment and reconstruction workshops (furniture, bikes and electricals), recycling facilities and employability access services.

Within five to seven years, “The Orchard” will be a self-sustaining community providing accommodation and work for around 40 people per year and will also facilitate the growth of further social enterprises in the Hull & East Riding area.
